Thanks for all those who came down to take part in the
Xmas game. And to those who didn't without proper reason, pull
yourselves together. I would like to add that from a neutrals point of
view, the Wales side dominated and played by far the better rugby.
However credit where credit is due, somebody on the rest of the world
team had the foresight to bribe the ref.......... Shocking!!!
Altogether now.... Oh I wish I was a mushy mushy
pea...................................
Happy new year knuckle heads!!

Well done lads. A really gritty performance against the
"old enemy" yesterday and yet again the last 10 mins!!! We need to say
no more. There were some massive performances yesterday and it would be
unfair to single out one person but I feel that I must commend Early for
his leadership and discipline.
Let's keep up this tempo against the Covis and redress
the first game of the season.
Best wishes for 07 to everyone

With regards to our loss and then win against Bala within
7 days; I think it was King Harold II who said "What does not kill us,
can only make us stronger" He died soon afterwards at The Battle of

Much has been written about the benefits of Judo training
in the modern rugby age. The All Blacks being the most obvious of
supporters of Judo training. I also note the Welsh team has been ordered
to start Judo training. Colwyn Bay Judo club is based at the local
Leisure Centre and currently has three CBRFC members who all love it.
Perfect for off season training.

I watched the 1st's avenge their defeat against Bala on
Saturday. It was a bruising encounter, blood, injuries, Sion sin
binned....It was nice to see the Bay pack answer their critics and
'front up' against the aggressive Bala pack. In particular I admired the
work rate and courage of Chris Hughes. Week in week out he is the quiet
backbone of the bay Back, putting in the unseen graft. His previous
captaincy was too much too soon, but I feel the future beckons for this
young lad. We won't be losing him to Uni or such whimsical distractions.
I hope one day in the near future we will see him again in a suitable
leading role.

That session was as tough as you'll ever get considering
the conditions. We put in 46 scrums in 42 minutes, but it was absolutely

South African rugby has a virile image; they like to

No one is unstoppable - Tony Underwood on Jonah Lomu
They always lose when it matters - Bernard Laporte on

One of the things that a forward finds difficult is to
run and think at the same time Scott Quinnell
You play the ref on the day, if he says black is white

Regarding the comments I supposedly made on the website
quoting chuck Norris and Mickey Rooney, ha ha very funny. However I am
aware that these comments get vetted before they are posted and as what
I am about to say concerns the man who vets them I doubt this will get
posted. Anyway here goes. Dear Jon Shaw, I thought that it would be
quite obvious that the people whose names are being attached to these
comments are not the people posting them. To have received three
comments posted from 1st team players in the space of a week quoting
some famous and some not so famous people, would sort of give the game
away to anyone with half a brain. That is of course unless the person
posting them is merely a puppet on a string. By that I mean that a
certain individual is, as he has done before ringing yourself up to make
sure his comments get posted. So to either Dave Brown, Chris Hughes or
Bryn Williams, very well done a very original concept. I'm sure your
families will be so very proud of you!! And to John Shaw, think on, if
it sounds like a joke it probably is.

Some interesting points made re the Bala game last
Saturday. However, the opportunity to front up and compete from the off
is available to Bay and I sincerely hope that the boys put in a display
worthy of the efforts put forth on the training ground.
Injuries to any player are inevitable in a collision
sport and sledging and banter from both touch lines is an inevitable
aspect of the game.
I trust that 'un-named Bala' supporter has the good grace
to realise that the actions of a few supporters in the heat of the
moment are not indicative of an entire club, team and supporter base.
Bala got the result through sheer hard work and to lose a
key player whose distribution provided the platform for a solid
attrition based attack is a great shame.
Lets have more of the same and a great game of rugby with
a score line to even up. Of course, in Colwyn Bay's favour!!!

In reply to the unnamed Bala supporter I apologise for
the comments made regarding the injury to their scrum half these were
unfortunately heat of the moment comments but should not have been made.
After the game I personally spoke to those responsible to remind them

against CBRFC and that under no circumstances will they be tolerated,
hopefully all will be well this Saturday. At least I have put my name to
this apology.

The game on Saturday came as a massive disappointment,
both individually and as a team. We need to re-group and re-focus
quickly before next sat. One of the main things we need to look at is,
our discipline. I think it was Chuck Norris who said ' Men are like
steel. When they lose their temper they lose their worth'. Having said
that, we should still keep our belief in reaching the goals we recently
set ourselves. Those being, to challenge at the top of the league and
have a good cup run. After all, wasn't it Mickey Rooney's saying that
'You always pass failure on the way to success'. Also remember, we win
as a team and lose as a team. A point that at times gets over looked!
See you all training this week.

If Carlsberg made away fixtures...............
I'm still looking back in disbelief on yesterdays 2nd
team fixture away to Benllech. We arrived short of players, and they
loaned us THEIR TWO BEST PLAYERS! One of which proceeded to score a hat
trick and be awarded Man of the Match. If only all clubs were as
friendly and hospitable as Benllech. As at this grassroots level there
really is no need for macho competition. The sport of Rugby should
always be the winner.

Massive game Saturday, but one in which we all know is
well within our capabilities. The victories against Ruthin, Mold and
Nant Conwy where fantastic achievements but mean nothing on their own.
We all know the work that has been done both on and off the field to get
to where we are today, but it's now that the hard work really starts.
It's time to stand up and be counted, it's time to give those who have
not only invested their own time and money into the club but who have
believed in us and stuck by us through thick and thin something to
finally cheer about. The great Ali once said that 'The measure of a man
is how hard he hits, how fast he moves and how quick he thinks but the
measure of a champion is much purer, the measure of a champion is his
heart. To know he is beaten yet refuse to yield, to have nothing left to
give and from somewhere find the strength to give it, to stare defeat in
the face and tell it that if your taking me today, you sure as hell aint
taking me alive' So lets fight till we can't fight no more and bring the
good old days back to Colwyn Bay Rugby Club!!

What can I say...?
Fantastic display today at Ruthin. A tough venue, a very
experienced team and a Bay side with a significant series of changes
positionally.
However, it became clear within the first ten minutes
that bay were going to play the game their way; cool, clinical and
concise.
With the exception of a lapse in focus and concentration
for the final 15mins of the first half which permitted Ruthin to mix
things up and gain possession, Bay's determination and teamwork
prevailed, denying Ruthin the ball and defending any short series of
opposition possession with great effect.
As a coach, I can think of no greater feeling than
watching, with great pride, a squad gel together, train hard and embark
on a mission to play their own brand of rugby and succeed in taking some
notable scalps at home and away.
Believe it boys, you are a squad capable of living at the
upper end of the table. Very, very well done indeed.

This could make website viewers see that we are a club the doesn't just

A reality check!! A great start to the season, let's call

Big game this Saturday boys. Always a
tough side to breakdown and not a team to be taken lightly. Been a
vintage season thus far, but you are still some way from showing
everyone just how lethal you can be for 80mins against any team on any
pitch. I am watching your development with great pride and have no doubt
that you are now beginning to realise just how challenging it is to
maintain winning a pattern. That said, you are demonstrating the
capability to run the ball from any field position and accumulate
points. Lets tighten up every aspect of the game this Saturday,
dominate possession, control the tackle area and use every inch of space
to pressure Denbigh's defensive line. The last few games have been
fantastic to watch, if a little frenetic at times, and the net results
have been very encouraging. You can and will fire on all cylinders for
the full 80mins and will be one of the most difficult sides for
opposition to get behind. Prior to going into this enforced break in the
season, lets get everything into clear perspective this Saturday and
play the game the "Bay Way" and achieve a result that puts your terrific
work ethic, team spirit and determination into the front of every team
in Division 4's mind. Make yourselves the team that defend, attack and
create good quality rugby at every available opportunity and fully
deserve to live at the upper reaches of the table throughout the season.

BOYS - first off, let me congratulate you
all on an excellent start to the season, looking very sharp, and you are
obviously looking like the flair team of the league!!
Well, I have been in the States for about 4 months now, and all that
football (soccer to the bloody locals) is not good for any one, so I
decided enough was enough, and started looking for a way to cram a game of
rugby into my hectic (3 hours of work a day) schedule!!
I stumbled across a team in the South Boston area (good will hunting)
called Old Gold. After getting in contact and telling them I had
represented the might seahorses, I was told to turn up Saturday and I
would play..... looking at the website I noticed that they named the
countries of their international players, so obviously, I had to get in
touch and ask, if I played Saturday, would they please add "Wales" to that
list. In reply to this I was told that they could do me a deal, if I
scored a try, the welsh FLAG gets put on the website....
well, obviously, what with me and my bad habit of scoring debut tries (1st
team debut V Gorseinon!), I went a bagged a beauty!!!
so with that, I'll ask you to check out
www.oldgoldrugby.com and know that it the
try (and the victory) is dedicated to Colwyn Bay Rugby Club.
