DEPLETED BAY GO DOWN FIGHTING Colwyn Bay 2nds 19 Llandudno 2nds 32 The Bay travelled to Llandudno in this 2nds friendly fixture last Saturday and lost an enthralling game by 3 tries (2 converted) to 5 (1 converted). The visitors, due to late withdrawals, took the field two short and the apparent number inequality was made worse early in the second half when inside centre and playmaker Lem Hocknell left the field with a back problem. The Bay made light of their lack of numbers after they went 12 nil down after 20 minutes and came back with two tries of their own (one converted). First wing Adam Vallor burst through wide out and then prop Chris Dentith barrelled his way over in loose play. Centre Dougie Graham converted. The Bay continued to tackle anything that moved in the second half but sheer weight of numbers eventually told as Tudno were able to run in three unconverted tries. The Bay lads never-say-die spirit saw them pick up a consolation try through Graham late on when he caught the Tudno defence napping after a quick penalty to score under the posts. If spirit wins matches, this performance bodes well for the Bay’s programme in the North East Wales league when it re-commences with an away game against Caer Borderers on the 16th February.
