BAY 2NDS CRUISE TO EASY WIN AT ABERGELE

Colwyn Bay 2nds travelled to Pentre Mawr Park last Saturday and secured their first win in their second game in this season’s North East Wales Districts League against Abergele 2^nds with a resounding 8 tries (3 converted) to 1 win.

The Bay side proved to be superior in all aspects of their game – winning good ball at the set and in the line out to leave their fast and strong backs to score pretty much at will.  Powerful full back Ben Evans opened the scoring with two tries and a conversion in the first quarter with inside centre Tom Blackwell scoring the first of his five tries to enable the Bay to end the half 19 points to nil up.

Blackwell’s speed enabled him to score four more tries in the 2^nd half with a further contribution from scrum half  Gus Gawn before Ben Evans rounded off a well deserved Man of the Match Award with a final conversion.  Special mention too for Tristan Hird  Alex Jones and Martin Cormack who as hastily recruited props proved to be a very sound basis for much of the Bay’s possession throughout the game.
