Saturday 7th Jan'6 - C/Bay v Corwen Colwyn Bay second team lost narrowly at
Corwen by 16-12. In atrocious conditions with snow falling heavily for most of
the game there were inevitably a number of handling errors in what turned out to
be a tight match to the final whistle. Colwyn Bay's pack battled bravely with
James Aldridge having an excellent game as emergency prop. The Bay opened the scoring with a fine opportunist try in the corner by young scrum half Tom Blackwell. Corwen replied with two penalties to lead at half time 6-5. In the second half Corwen appeared to have sealed the match when they scored a converted try and a penalty. However the Bay came back strongly in the last quarter with a try by back row Ritchie Evans who had an excellent game. This was converted by Phil Dickson. In the final minute Ritchie Evans appeared to have won the game with his second try but the referee for an earlier infringement disallowed it. |
