BAY 2NDS SHARP ENOUGH AGAINST FLINTCOLWYN BAY 2NDS 30 FLINT 2NDS 0 Colwyn Bay 2nds tabled a second win in succession against Flint 2nds last Saturday at Brookfield Drive in a hard fought 4 tries (2 converted) to nil victory in the North East Wales District League. In a tough first half the ball moved little from the scrum as both packs battled hard for supremacy with the Bay fly half Steve Thatcher scoring all the points with a converted try and a penalty. The try came from a handling mistake by the Flint backs on which Thatcher swooped to run in from 35 yards. The Bay turned round 11 nil up. In the second half better Bay fitness asserted itself with supersubs John Beagley and Mark Bratt adding power and stability to the forwards enabling 2nd row Dean Henson to emerge from a push over in the corner to score a try. Further Bay tries came from veteran flanker Tony Lumby and scrum half Barry Cravetto both converted by full back Haydn Phillips. Again both these tries came from solid loose play from the Bay scrum in which loose head prop and Man of the Match Nathan Hughes was especially prominent.
