Dear all,
We are rapidly approaching the end of the
season so I thought I’d update you with a
few points of note and interest.
Training: Sunday
29th April
& Thursday 3rd May
will be on.
Welly Tournament Saturday 5th May: Will
those that haven’t done so please let me
know their child’s availability for this
final fixture of the season. We can only
take a squad of 15 players so need to know
numbers asap. Thank you.
Presentation Day Sunday 6th May: This
is the final day of the season and we will
be presenting prizes for Coaches Player,
Most Improved Player & Players Player. The
times are to be confirmed but it will be in
the Clubhouse on Sunday morning. There will
be a BBQ at lunch time and the possibility
of impromptu ‘fun’ on the pitches, weather
permitting.
I am also running an early
registration day for
next season and would encourage as many as
possible to re-register on Presentation
Day. I have attached next seasons form and
it can also be downloaded off the website.
Contribution to winter all-weather pitch
use: We
have been asked by the Club to contribute to
the cost of winter training at Llandrillo
this year. This amounts to £5 per player
that trained during the winter and I’d be
grateful if you could let me have that
either at training or on presentation day
itself. Thank you.
Finally, I would like to let you know that I
will be standing down as U11s manager next
season after 5 years in the role. I’m sad
that this era is coming to a close but work
and increasing family commitments away from
the Club mean that I haven’t been able to
give the job “my all” this season and I see
that only becoming more the case next
season. I don’t want to undertake a role
that I can’t do to the best of my ability so
will be handing over the reins to the more
than capable Caroline Roberts who has been
by my side with the team since they were
U7s. I hope that you will give Caroline as
much support as you have given to me over
the years. It has been a lot of fun, your
children are a pleasure to be around and I
thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Dear all,
Thank you on behalf of Andy, Peter, Jon &
myself for your support again this season.
We have a squad of 19 players which is
fantastic.
I have put together a few important points
and reminders below, as well as a look
ahead.
Please read this
carefully and respond where prompted!

Preparation for matches:
The rugby has stepped up a gear this year as
the children grow and become more physical.
Andy and his team spend a huge amount of
time preparing the children for the
challenge and physicality of matches in
order that they play competitively, but most
importantly, safely. With this in mind
please consider the following:
PLEASE ensure
your children have a
good night’s sleep
before a
match. If they approach the game tired they
are much more likely to injure themselves.
PLEASE ensure
that they have a
good breakfast
before a
match. They will use up a lot of energy
during a game and will not be able to
perform for the whole match if they run low
on sugar.
PLEASE remind
them to bring their
gum guards.
They will not be able to play without them.
The next month:
Here is a run down of our fixtures for
October. Please note there are changes from
the original spreadsheet in the book /
website.
Sunday 9th October
– TRAINING
(probably on The Paddock, Rydal but TBC)
Sunday
16th October – MOLD TOURNAMENT –
For those that are new this year, this
is a well-run Tournament which we have
attended every year. It is a great
opportunity to get in a full day’s rugby
early in the season and always benefits the
children as they all get plenty of match
time during the day. The matches are 10 a
side & we will be taking a squad of 15
players. Please let me know asap if your
child is available and we will sort out a
squad. We will let you know who will be
selected as soonas we have heard from
everyone.

Sunday 23rd October – LLANDUDNO
(H)
Important bits and bobs:
Those that have family membership, your Club
booklets are available behind the bar.
We are hoping to take the
U11s on Tour to Dublin during the Easter
hols to return the hospitality of Old Wesley
from last season. We will need to actively
fund-raise for this to ensure that the Tour
is affordable for all. I hope that you will
all do your bit to ensure that the tour
becomes a reality but in particular are
looking for a small group of parents to run
the fund-raising initiative for us all.
Please let me know if you are willing / able
to help out.
J
Thank you all,
Best wishes,
Cath
I hope that you are all enjoying your summer
hols! To wake you from your warm, sun-cream
ladened reverie I thought you'd all like to
know that it is only 27 days
to the start of the rugby season.
Some may groan, some may cheer but the speed
with which it is coming is
unavoidable......so......... here are a few
bits and bobs you need to know:
1) Please remember to check how much your
little darlings have grown over the summer &
try their kits / boots on them. The kit
exchange will be available on registration
day so please bring in your old stuff and
take what fits if possible (recycling at its
best).
2) Please check they have a well-fitting gum
guard. They will not be able to play rugby
without one and there will be no exceptions
made.
3) Registration Day is Sunday 4th
September 11am to 1pm.
Registration forms for those that didn't
register at the end of last season will soon
be available on the website or on the day.
We will be running a training session that
day so ensure that they come prepared.
4) Please encourage any friends who are
considering taking up rugby to come down and
give it a go.
5) Lastly, but by no means least, the Junior
Section is looking for a new Fixtures
Secretary. This is an important job within
the section and well-supported by the Junior
Section committee. If you fancy getting
more involved then please let me know and I
can give you some more information about
what it may involve. Our age-group are
well-represented within the committee which
shows what a fantastically committed group
of parents we have. Come and join us!
We look very much forward to seeing you all
on the 4th September. Enjoy the rest of the
summer.
Best wishes,
Cath |
