On a cold but sunny Remembrance Sunday
morning Colwyn Bay U10s travelled to
Pwllheli for a morning packed with good
rugby. Both Clubs keenly observed a
minute’s silence prior to kick off. The Bay
U10s always enjoy playing Pwllheli and have
had some closely fought encounters over the
last 2 years, always played in a good
spirit. Today was no exception.
Pwllheli U10s 29 – 21 Colwyn Bay U10s
Try scorers: Harvey Waltham x 3
Conversions: Alex Martin, Jack Rhodes, Harry
Roberts
The first half of this match belonged to
Pwllheli. Colwyn Bay were yet to wake up
after their journey and Pwllheli ran in an
early try unopposed through non-existent Bay
tackling. Matthew Richards was a one man
Colwyn Bay team, running everywhere on the
pitch and tackling everyone in sight. The
only highlight of the half was a try from
Harvey Waltham who steamed through the
Pwllheli defence. The first half was lost
24-7. The Bay were a transformed team in
the second half which they won 14 -5. There
was a much improved performance all round
with some good tackling and two more tries
for Harvey Waltham created by accurate
passing and good support play. Man of the
Match was Matthew Richards for putting
everything he had into the game. Well done
Matthew.
Pwllheli U10s 26 – 38 Colwyn Bay U10s
Try Scorers: Harvey Waltham x 3, Byron
Wilson-Noon, Joshua Hall, Matthew Richards
(Alex Martin for Pwllheli)
Conversions: Joshua Thomas, Ewan Luke, Harry
Roberts
Colwyn Bay lent Pwllheli 3 players
for this game. We would like to thank Alex
Martin, Jack Rhodes and Matthew Harrison for
playing so well for the opposition.
The quality of rugby in this second match
was excellent and a keenly fought contest
was on the cards with the score 14-14 at
half time. The game ebbed and flowed with
the ball changing possession and ends
regularly. Both teams defended well.
Thomas bale missed an important tackle on
the half way line, got up and chased back to
tackle the player centimetres from the try
line to save a certain try. A Colwyn Bay
turn over ensued. Eve Doherty played her
best game of rugby for the Bay. She ran
hard and fast at the try line, putting in a
beautiful pass which led to Joshua Hall’s
debut try for the Club. She then followed
her attacking play with a fantastic tackle.
Well done Eve. Man of the Match goes to
Harvey Waltham for three further tries from
strong running. Well done to Colwyn Bay for
your first win over Pwllheli. Thanks to all
parents for bringing their children to what
we hope you feel was a worthwhile trip.
