SATURDAY 15th OCTOBER 2005: - Dolgellau 6 Colwyn Bay 22 Bay
travelled to Dolgellau looking for their first league game last Saturday.
Changes to the game plan made by coach Mark Earl appeared to have proved
successful as Bay dominated all aspects of play. From the whistle Bay took the
game to their hosts, with Bay's pack driving deep into opposition territory.
After good forward pressure the ball was released to winger Steve Davidson who
touched down over the try line, only for the Dolgellau touch judge to deny the
score, sighting a foot in touch. Bay's forward dominance was bolstered this week
by two players promoted from the strong 2nd team, Chris Dentith and Dean Henson
adding some much needed weight to Bay's scrummage. After further solid work from
Bay's pack, the ball was again released to the backs, enabling Bay winger Gafyn
to open the scoring with a try wide out on the right. As Bay now got into their
stride a break from their own 22 resulted in captain Dave Brown putting Davidson
into the left corner for a well taken try. In the first half Dolgellau’s only
response came Colwyn
Bay are looking forward to travelling to Llangollen this Saturday for the
opening round of the North Wales Cup. |
