Mini Tag Rugby Mini Tag Rugby was first introduced into North Wales by Colwyn Bay Rugby Club during the 2003/2004 season. This was so successful that the WRU are now introducing Mini Tag Rugby throughout Wales. ![]() Here are some of the basic rules! Passes may be sideways or backwards through the air. Free pass restart no more than 2 metres, opponents 7 metres away on line parallel to goal line No lines out A ball going in to touch will result in the opposing side restarting the game with a free pass from the point on the touchline where the ball went out of play. The tagged player must pass the ball to a teammate within 3 steps - 2 or 3 seconds. The tagger must stop running and wait for the tagged player to reclaim their tag before re-joining the game. No diving to score or falling on the ground A
team has a maximum of 6 ‘tags’ to score. On the 7th ‘tag’ possession is
lost to the defending side. No hand
offs, fend offs or barging. As you can see from the above, this is a controlled safe game for young active, keen rugby players to learn skills from an early age
