Thanks to all members
and guests for supporting the club for the Wales v France match.
Although we didn't get the result, a good night was had by all who
attended. During the course of the evening we raised a total of £40.00
for this year's Club charity, Wales Air Ambulance Service. Thanks for
your generosity. The next Colwyn Bay 1st XV fixture is at home against
Denbigh on 6 March. Let us have a good turn to support our team. The
next Big Screen international is on 13 March Ireland v Wales. Thanks
again for your support. |

All members have been sent
a letter containing the following information. If you are a reader of this
website but are not a club member, you may be interested in the following
message. You would be most welcome to visit the club and support our team.
Support for CBRFC 1st XV
We have seven 1st XV league games to play before the end of the
2009/10 season. It is vital that we win at least three of these matches. The
players are encouraged by support from the touchline. Enthusiastic support
enhances the players’ will to win. Therefore, the more people on the touchline
offering their support, the better chance the team has of winning these very
important fixtures.

I’m
getting good reports about the support for the Minis Round Table Santa run
and I’m pleased to report that we’re just about to roll out 36 hours of bag
packing at ASDA with the U13s to U16s. We’ve got most of it covered but we
have been allocated another 5 tills on Wednesday and we’re a bit thin on the
ground , particularly for the 0900 – 1500 morning shift. If any of you or
your team’s parents would like a couple of hours without the kids for last
minute shopping (U13 up) on Weds please feel free to donate your little
angels to earn some funds for the club.I will be on my way to Devon by then
( having done 2 days !) so Andy will be in charge . Please let him know if
you or your kids can help. This is an excellent earning opportunity and we
should make the most of it . Please spread the word far and wide.

Another Daft Contest for Christmas 2009 - The
Interesting Tie Contest
You will remember last Christmas we had an Interesting
Pullover Contest at the last 1st XV home fixture before the holiday. This
event raised £100.00 for Alder Hey Children's Hospital. After great
deliberation and discussion we have decide to run a similar event this year.
The last 1st XV home fixture before Christmas is Pwllheli on
5 December 2009. As this is short notice we have decide to make the contest
simpler to enter. Rather that search high and low for a pullover, this year
all you need to enter is an Interesting Tie. There will be no fee for
entering the contest, but we would ask every competitor to donate at least
£1.00 to the club's 2009 - 10 charity, Wales Air Ambulance Service. Prizes
will be bottles of booze and other festive items. These will be donated by
club members. The contest will be judged by the Pwllheli team captain two
members of his team.
Please make every effort to take part. If you have difficulty
in finding an Interesting Tie, try the charity shops.
We look forward to see how far your imaginations can stretch.

Re Geoff's All
Black's Move
Except for the referee not
picking up the "not straight" line out through in, it was a brilliant move. A
great coaching ploy. So long as you have highly skilful, superbly fit players,
who know what each other is doing and is going to do and practice the move until
it works like clockwork. (Having world class rugby players may also help).
Taking this into consideration, you could teach it to anyone. |

All Members
We all know it is a "credit
crunch" but as a club we are always trying to bring additional funding into the
club to meet our ever increasing costs. I am asking all members who are in
Business whether they are able to help out with an advertising board around the
1st pitch which will bring in additional income or if you know a Business that
might help.(£250/£400) A few ideas to bring additional funding is the use of a
Lottery Bonus Ball, this brings in approx £1k per annum one already run by Brian
with most of the old f---s on board. Would anyone else like to start another?
The Seahorse Club which although still in being has not been pushed for a number
of years although 6 monthly draws are made with monthly Prices of £100,£50 & £25
Can we get more members on board to date we have just 75 members in the club,
Mandy has already sold addl 8/10 if we could increase to say 100/120 members
this would further increase our funds and give more members the opportunity to
win. Anyone interested have a word with Mandy, Pete or myself we will all gladly
take £10 from u which is the annual payment. I apologise before hand if I start
pestering u to become a Seahorse Member but as previously said costs are on the
increase.

I read with interest the
history of Colwyn bay RUFC. I was one of the founder players of the club in ,if
my memory is right 1954. I had attended a rugby course at Bisham Abbey where
one of the coaches was a member of the Welsh Schools Association, and knowing
that I lived in Llandudno ,had played rugby for Lancaster Royal Grammar School,
and was going to Liverpool University gave me Tom Bellis's telephone number. We
practiced below Rydal School and played at Mochdre. I remember playing against
South Wales teams during the Easter period, What an eye opener and also
represented North Wales against a visiting representative team put together by
an ex Rydal player and former Welsh International. His name alludes me at the
moment . Later, Llandudno formed a Rugby Club, and I was asked to join them,
but as Colwyn Bay was still in its infancy and important that it succeeded I did
not take up the offer. Due to studies and time playing for Liverpool Univ. and
only available during vacations I did not play many seasons for Colwyn Bay.
Later they moved , after my time to Colwyn Bay . |

Good luck to this season's outgoing Under 16's. What a
great season. Loosing only 3 out of 16 matches & coming runners up in an
International Under 17's Tournament whilst on Tour. Commitment to
training has been superb in this important GCSE year. Those who of you
who did not see the season all the way through, it would be great to see
you back. You have all got something to contribute. Those who've had
"season ending" injuries your return is keenly anticipated. I look
forward to following all your progress as Youth players next season.
All the best Tony. |

pmAnnual Golf Tournament
This year's Annual Golf Day will held
be on Saturday 12 September 2009. Representation has been made to
the WRU requesting we have a home 1st XV fixture on that date. We
have had a reply suggesting that this will accommodated. You can
therefore put 12 September 2009 in your diaries. You will be
notified about cost and timings later.
Last year's competition was played in
appalling weather conditions. Unfortunately, we only have a direct
line to the WRU. If anyone has any influence with Him upstairs,
please have a word and see if you can get the weather sorted for
this year's comp!

On Wednesday 25 February 09, leaflets were distributed to
houses on Brookfield Drive, Cambrian Drive, Craig View, Crafnant Road,
Derwen Avenue and Llewellyn View. These are roads nearest to CBRFC. The
leaflet is an invite for people to come to the club to watch the home
international matches on Friday 27 Feb, Saturday 14 March and Saturday
21 March. If members are approached by one of our "neighbours" please
make them welcome. We are hoping that this initiative will encourage
more people to use the club facilities and, possibly, become members.

Well done 2nd XV against Flint on Saturday. It was good
to see some hard running, fast flowing rugby. If Andy had worn his
kicking boots in the 1st half the score line would have been even more
impressive. Nevertheless, he got it right in the second half. This
complimented the great effort made by those who made and scored the
tries. Caer away next week. You beat them 28 - 12 in October, after
Saturday's performance, you should be able to repeat the exercise. Well
done Steve & Max for your tireless support. Keep up the good work. |
