Support for CBRFC 1^st XV

We have seven 1^st XV league games to play before the end of the 2009/10 season. It is vital that we win at least three of these matches. The players are encouraged by support from the touchline.  Enthusiastic support enhances the players’ will to win. Therefore, the more people on the touchline offering their support, the better chance the team has of winning these very important fixtures.

Please make every effort to attend all of the home fixtures. If you are available to travel to the away fixtures your support would be very much appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you supporting your team at as many of these matches you can attend.

All fully paid up members will have had their membership book which informs you how to apply for your tickets. I am now in the process of collating information as to the number of tickets the club will require and would urgently request the members that require tickets inform me by the END of NOVEMBER at the latest. I can usually ensure that all our tickets are sold but with the FRANCE game being played on a FRIDAY I do not wish to have tickets not sold for this game. Should you not be able to provide me with the correct form a letter will suffice and all requests can be handed direct to me or left behind the bar for my attention. Tickets will range from £40,£55,£60 & £65 with the usual £2 admin per ticket. Many thanks

Can I on behalf of the Club thank Dave Brown/Max Eames Hughes all players/supporters who committed themselves to the run from the top of Snowdon by relay for the Sponsored Try & Alder Hay at the end of last season. Amount collected being £1,000 half of which will go to club funds with the remaining sum of £500 to Alder Hay the Club Charity for last year. This makes a grand total of £2,050 to Alder Hay which will be presented to them on Sat 31st October at the Club Once again thank you all.

Re Geoff's All Black's Move

Except for the referee not picking up the "not straight" line out through in, it was a brilliant move. A great coaching ploy. So long as you have highly skilful, superbly fit players, who know what each other is doing and is going to do and practice the move until it works like clockwork. (Having world class rugby players may also help). Taking this into consideration, you could teach it to anyone.

All Members

We all know it is a "credit crunch" but as a club we are always trying to bring additional funding into the club to meet our ever increasing costs. I am asking all members who are in Business whether they are able to help out with an advertising board around the 1st pitch which will bring in additional income or if you know a Business that might help.(£250/£400) A few ideas to bring additional funding is the use of a Lottery Bonus Ball, this brings in approx £1k per annum one already run by Brian with most of the old f---s on board. Would anyone else like to start another? The Seahorse Club which although still in being has not been pushed for a number of years although 6 monthly draws are made with monthly Prices of £100,£50 & £25 Can we get more members on board to date we have just 75 members in the club, Mandy has already sold addl 8/10 if we could increase to say 100/120 members this would further increase our funds and give more members the opportunity to win. Anyone interested have a word with Mandy, Pete or myself we will all gladly take £10 from u which is the annual payment. I apologise before hand if I start pestering u to become a Seahorse Member but as previously said costs are on the increase.

Just to let every one know on October the 2nd I'm doing a 10,000ft Tandem Parachute Jump for the Samantha Dixon Brain Tumour Trust!! there is a big blue bucket on the bar in the club and id be so grateful if everyone would help me raise £1000 for the charity I'm almost there but ever penny counts please!!!!!!!

Just a short note thanking all members who have responded to subscription renewal notices sent out in August. Membership subs are being received in record time. Thanks also to John Broadway and his team for enrolling many family members as part of the Junior registration process. Those who have not yet paid 2009/10 subs, please do so ASAP. These may be handed to the Club Steward or to me. Membership subscriptions play a vital role in the provision and maintenance of the magnificent facilities we enjoy at CBRFC

Autumn Internationals

All tickets have now been sold for the 3 games I might have the odd single ticket available in a couple of days should anyone wish to avail himself/herself please contact me asap. I should then be able to confirm either way on Monday/Tuesday of next week.

Would anyone be interested in doing brief game reports this season for the senior sides? I know they are followed on the site by those who are  away, or have played for the teams. There must be some budding reporter out there!

On the above Sunday 4^th October 2009 the Under 13s referee is not available and can a CBRFC coach  Referee an Under 13s match at Brookfield Drive for the Under 13s against Flint. All applicants to Aiden Sheil who will be the day coaching and kick off at 11.00am  and there is a free pint from the Under 13s tour fund for the willing volunteer. See Aiden for refreshments!!

I read with interest the history of Colwyn bay RUFC. I was one of the founder players of the club in ,if my memory is right  1954.  I had attended a rugby course at Bisham Abbey where one of the coaches was a member of the Welsh Schools Association, and knowing that I  lived in Llandudno ,had played rugby for Lancaster Royal Grammar School, and was going to Liverpool University gave me Tom Bellis's telephone number. We practiced below Rydal School and played at Mochdre. I remember playing against South Wales teams during the Easter period,  What an eye opener and also represented North Wales against a visiting representative team put together by an ex Rydal player and former Welsh International. His name alludes me at the moment .  Later, Llandudno formed a Rugby Club, and I was asked to join them, but as Colwyn Bay was still in its infancy and important that it succeeded I did not take up the offer. Due to studies and time playing for Liverpool Univ. and only available during vacations I did not play many seasons for Colwyn Bay.  Later they moved , after my time to Colwyn Bay .

Last Chance to Take Part in This years Golf Competition

This is your last chance to get your name down for this years golf comp. I cannot accept any entries after 29 August 2009. The reason for this is I have to inform the golf pro at Rhos on Sea Golf Club the numbers that will be participating. This will give him the opportunity of filling the spot after our tee time with other visitors. I also have to inform CBRFC club steward of numbers participating for catering purposes. Player Members Registration Day Saturday 15 August 2009

To ensure that all senior Player Members, (1 XV & 2 XV), are registered with the WRU and that we have your details correct, we are holding a registration day on 15 August 2009. This is the same day as the pre season game with Chester RFC. To help with this, all senior Player Members, for which we have current addresses, will receive a letter asking you to have certain information available. If you have not received a letter by 7 August 09, please let me know. You can contact me by putting a post it on this site or by going to the Club Officials hypo-link on this website.

Please make yourself available for this exercise, it will save a lot of bother once the season begins

Annual Golf day 12 September 2009

Only 8 weeks to go. Only 24 places, 10 of which have been filled. If you want to join us, please get your entry form in ASAP. As an added interest, the 1st XV will be playing Nant Conwy at home on the day of the comp. So, as well as the golf, we are guaranteed an interesting afternoon of rugby. We need a hand from you or your kids in designing the front cover for next season’s handbook so I propose a competition to run in the first part of the school hols.We need a A5 sized design in any format by email to me , even drawings by post! To me at the club) . It can be a single photo , a montage or a drawing on the theme “ I love rugby because……” Closing date is midnight Friday 31 July and the winner will receive a brand new size 5 ball and the Kudos of having his/her design recognised “ cover design by…………..” on the front of the 300 copies we will be distributing next year .
