KONICA CUP 2ND ROUND - RHYDYFELIN 30 SEPTEMBER 2006 GOOD PERFORMANCE BY THE BAY DESPITE DEFEAT The Bay travelled to unbeaten ASDA second division east club Rhydyfelin for a second round Konica Minolta Cup tie with a number of their regular first team unavailable to travel. The gap in class between divisions 2 and 4 was reflected in the 66-0 scoreline but, despite this, the Bay team put up a good display with Josh Leach, Sean McDonagh, Chris Browne and Duncan Watts in particular having fine games. The Bay pack matched Rhydyfelin in the tight but Rhydyfelin’s loose play and skilful handling, with their talented back row and three-quarters, was very impressive and proved more than a match for the Bay. The Bay played with pride, putting in 100% effort to the final whistle and good defensive play made for an entertaining spectacle. The players will have learned some useful lessons from this encounter, which should put them in good stead when they return to full strength for an important league fixture against unbeaten Mold next Saturday. |
