SATURDAY 1st OCTOBER 2005: - COLWYN BAY 7 - CAERNARFON 30 The 30 - 7 defeat came despite Bay pulling back an early Caernarfon six nil with Adam Hughes try and conversion to go ahead 8 - 6 when down to 14 men through yellow card, only to quickly surrender that to a scrum half Gary Patchett try with some poor covering although they did not lack effort. The strong wind and squally showers meant that it could never be a classic rugby day, but whereas the visitors made the best of things without looking championship class, the home side just could do little right when it the ascendary where lack of confidence saw the ball kicked when keeping hold of the ball seemed the best tactic. Caernarfon threw the ball about much more and were rewarded with three more tries before a miserable day ended for the Bay with a penalty try, which was then converted.
