Caernarfon 24 - Colwyn Bay 0
News of last weeks great win over third placed Pwllheli had
obviously arrived at fourth placed Caernarfon. The home side came out all guns
blazing. Knowing Bay would use any possession well, the Cofis game plan was to
disrupt, and deny Bay all possession. A goal which they succeeded in
doing. Although Caernarfon had the vast amount of possession in the first half,
they failed to use the steep slope to their advantage. Scoring only through Bays
errors, 3 penalties kicked, and one try for a HT score of 16-0.
The middle part of the game saw a number of persons and one rat leave the field.
The later, a dead rodent which had been missed during the referees pre match
pitch inspection. The other departures were due to a flurry of yellow cards for
both sides, and a red card. A Cofi centre given the red card for punching and
breaking the nose of Bay hooker Sion Thomas. Following the media headlines and
controversy surrounding the 10 week banning of Welsh centre Gavin Henson for
breaking the nose of an opposition forward, all eyes will be on the ban handed
out to the Caernarfon centre.
The Cofis added another brace of tries and a penalty to round off their win, and
end a very forgetable game for the Bay side.
Colwyn Bay are home this Saturday against fellow strugglers Denbigh. The Bay are
hoping for a large home crowd for what promises to be a hard fought game.
