Sunday 9th March '08

Colwyn Bay  under 9’s Tackle

Colwyn Bay  5     Southport  1

Colwyn Bay was at home and led out by their captain Adam Jakeman. The bay got stuck straight in and with some good passing out to our winger, who cut a good angle threw Southport's defence and scored the first try. Southport where a lot bigger side and very committed to the rucks and mauls. The Bay where looking for fastball to be shipped out to the wingers this seemed to work for the bay. Southport was no push over and the score does not reflect the game.

The try scorers for the Bay were Rhodri Davies (3), Morgan Lumby (1) and Brayden Harding (1). Man of the Match goes to Ryan Foxall for his recycling the ball and his big runs. Big Tacklers goes to Joseff McAlinden ,Liam Weatherson, and Harri Jones. WELL DONE TEAM.


Sunday 9th March '08

UNDER 9’S TACKLE       

COLWYN BAY  3       BALA 1

Colwyn Bay was at home against Bala. They were led out by their captain Morgan Lumby. Bala won the toss and got of to a cracking start. The Bay had their work cut out tackling Bala, they were running straight at the Bay and with every contact Bala off loaded the ball. The Bay managed to turn the ball over and with some big drives put Bala on the back foot, the Bay was quick to put the ball threw their hands and out to their fast winger Tom Pritchard who dived for the try line. The second try for the Bay came from Ben Duncalf who managed to take the ball at pace and smash his way over the line. Bala came straight back and with grit and determination put the Bay on the back foot and just kept coming at the Bay managing to break a tackle and score a try, the score at half time was 2-1 to the Bay.

The second half was a lot closer with both teams nailing the tackles and good passing. The Bay were pinned down on their try line and with a big drive turned the ball over, Mathew Wood picked the ball up and ran the whole pitch with the whole of Bala chasing him to score a lovely try.

BIG TACKLES AND HIGH WORK RATE GOES TO…. Ryan Foxall, Jordan Simmons, Morgan Lumby, Brayden Harding and Rhodri Davies. Man of the Match goes to Mathew Wood for his all round performance. WELL DONE TEAM


Sunday 24th February '08

COLWYN BAY U9's 4    CHESTER U9's 2

Colwyn bay were away to Chester, they were led out by their captain Ben Duncalf .The bay won the toss and from the start they got stuck into the game, both sides were evenly matched in the line outs and scrums. After six minutes the bay were able to make their first try, Chester then had the bay pinned on the try line, no matter what Chester did the bay would not let them score. Going into half time it was 2-1 to the bay.

The second half was as close as the first half both sides was giving 110%  it was one of the best games the spectators had seen this season and played in the great spirit of sport and made all coaches proud. The bay managed to pile on the pressure which led to 4-2 win

The try scores were Mathew Wood (1), Joseff McAlinden (3). Man of the Match goes to Ryan Foxall for his spectacular runs and big tackles, Big effort goes to Ben Duncalf, and Liam Weatherson, none of this would be possible without the rest of the team. WELL DONE BOYS.

COLWYN BAY 6     NANT CONWY 0

UNDER 9’S

Colwyn Bay was away to Nant where they were led out by their captain Harri Jones. From the moment the whistle was blown you could see it was going to be a tough game, the tackling from both sides was solid and accurate, the Bay soon got the feel of the game and turned to support play, giving a good off load to Joseff McAlinden who managed to run ¾ of the pitch to score the first try, Nant came straight back holding the Bay  a metre from the try line, and with some good defence work from Adam Jakeman and Ryan Foxall they managed to stop Nant and fed the ball out to Harri Jones who smashed his way up the pitch, who off loaded to Ben Duncalf for a spectacular dive over the line making the score 2-0 at half time.

The second half the Bay was up for it, and just piled on the pressure and with some good footwork and fast pace coming of Joseff McAlinden scoring the third try. The fourth try came from Morgan Lumby who dragged him and two of the Nant Conwy players over the line. Liam Weatherson, Michael Caldwell and Jordan Simmons all played a big part of the game with some good ripping of the ball and with some good vision helped to set up the tries. Joseff McAlinden managed to rack up another two tries and had a very good attacking game. Man of the match goes to Brayden Harding for being involved in every break down, ruck, and maul.

COLWYN BAY,  MOLD  & RHYL UNDER 9’S

COLWYN BAY  4        MOLD (B)  0

The Bay was away at Mold, where they played 3 matches. The first match was against Mold's A team, which the Bay won 11-0. The second game the Bay won 4-1 against Rhyl. The third game we played Mold (B) team and won 4-0.

The Bay were led out by their captain Morgan Lumby who took charge of the game from the off, the Bay got straight in and with some solid tackling managed to turn the ball over and with some good passes out to the fast wingers they controlled  the game. In all aspects of the games the Bay were strong and no matter what Mold and Rhyl threw at them the Bay had the answer and would turn it round and score tries.

The try scorer’s were Joseff McAlinden (7), Matthew Wood(1), Rhodri Davies (4), Morgan Lumby (3), Brayden Harding (4). Big effort goes to Jordan Simmons, Liam Weatherson, and Michael Caldwell. Man of the match for the first match goes to Morgan Lumby for his try scoring and his strength in the position that he played (hooker). Man of the match for the second game goes to Harry Jones for his solid tackling skills and for his excellent support play. The third game the Man of the match goes to the whole team for their grit and determination, and digging deep when everyone else was tiring. One more big effort goes to Adam Jakeman who travelled all the way to Mold and unfortunately fell ill in the warm up to the game, but was still a big part of the team. WELL DONE TEAM.


Sunday 25th November

Under 9's

Colwyn Bay 0     Bala 5

The Bay was away to Bala where they were led out by their captain Harry Jones, Bala won the toss and with one wide pass out to the winger they managed to catch the bay out. The Bay put up a good fight and played some great rugby but everything was going Balas way and they were one of the best teams we have played this season. We will be looking forward to the re-match. The Bay were denied two tries, one by Morgan Lumby who powered his way threw Balas defence and was tackled on the line and clipped the flag. The second one was by Matthew Wood who placed the ball down short of the line. It was a great team effort and with all the difficulties they accrued they stuck with it till the final whistle. Man of the match goes to Morgan Lumby for his great runs and for his enthusiasm, which kept the teams moral high in a very hard game of rugby. WELL DONE TEAM keep up the good work.


Sunday 18th November

Under 9's

Colwyn Bay  11      Rhyl 1

Colwyn Bay were away to Rhyl that were led out by their captain Harry Harral. From the moment the ref blew the whistle the bay switched on and they put Rhyl on the back foot and managing to turn the ball over on the rucks and mauls giving the bay plenty of possession and with fast hands, quick feet, and good off loads they gained there 11-1 victory.

The try scores for the Bay were Rhodri Davies (3), Joseff McAlinden (3), Morgan Lumby (1), Matthew Wood (1), Harry Jones (1), Liam Weatherson (2). Morgan Lumby gets a big effort award for catching 9 out of 11 kicks from Rhyl and running straight at them. Micheal Caldwell big effort for ripping the ball and Man of the Match goes to Harry Jones for his clearing out rucks and pressure tackling. WELL DONE TEAM.

Colwyn Bay 4     Rhyl 1

The second game the Bay were still in control but only played one ten minute half. This give the Bay the opportunity to try out new ideas. Rhyl were finding their feet in this match and the Bay kept their calm and ran in four tries. The try scorers were Joseff McAlinden (2), Brayden Harding, and Rhodri Davies. One of our new Players Adam Jakeman is coming up threw the ranks and had a good game. Man of the match for this game was Harry Jones.
 

Sunday 28th October

Under 8's
Llangefni 6   Colwyn Bay 6
 
The bay travelled to Llangefni on a damp morning. The game started with promise for the bay as they broke through and scored, Peter Jones the try scorer. Another try soon followed from Peter again, before Llangefni found there feet and started defending well , winning a turnover and scoring from the resulting possession. Luke Simmons scored for the bay and the sides rested at half time level at 3 - 3. Llnagefni were put on the back foot by the Bay in the second half with tries from Peter, Luke and Conner .Two tries from Llangefni meant that The Bay were poised
for a win but Llangefni scored a try with the last move of the match to level up at 6 - 6. A good effort by the whole team and unlucky not to win.

Under 9's

COLWYN BAY 8     LLANGEFNI 0

Colwyn bay were away to Llangefni where they were led out by their captain Liam Weatherson. The Bay all seemed to be switched on and the moment the whistle went the Bay had Llangefni under pressure with some excellent passing and good support play the Bay was just running in tries, on the break downs the Bay would turn the ball over and gain procession. Llangefni put up a good fight and was in the game until the dying seconds and deserved to score but the Bays defence was so strong that they just could not get on the score board. The game was played in the right spirit and was a pleasure to watch.

The Try scores for the Bay were Joseff McAlinden (1), Matthew Wood (2), Liam Weatherson (1), Brayden Harding (3), Rhodri Davies (1). Big effort goes to Morgan Lumby, Ben Duncarve, and Michael Caldwell for their solid support play and tackling. Man of the match goes to Brayden Harding for his tackling and ripping the ball. WELL DONE TEAM.


21st October '07

UNDER 9’S  COLWYN BAY  7     STOCKPORT 3

Colwyn bay were away at Stockport, where they were led out by there captain Brayden Harding, who won the toss which gave them possession with a quick start and a few good passes, giving Morgan Lumby good pace on the ball to let him power threw Stockport's defence to score an opening try, Stockport came straight back at the Bay but their defence was to strong for them and managed to turn the ball over giving Morgan his second try. No matter what angles Stockport ran at the Bay they were shut down instantly, and the ball was turned over giving Joseff McAlinden the opportunity to let rip with his fancy foot work and acceleration to score a text book try. The fourth try came from a line out where Brayden Harding grabbed the ball in mid air and threw himself over the line, the last try before half time came from a three quarter length run of Morgan Lumby where he managed to run threw 4 tackles of Stockport's players leaving the score at half time 5-0 to the Bay.

The second half gave the Bay the opportunity to change some players and to get few new pairs of boots dirty for the first time, Bryn Johnson, Ryan Foxall and Ben. Stockport came out with all guns blazing and managed to get on the scoreboard. The Bay still kept hold of the game and with some solid tackling from aka Hit master Harry Jones, Jordan Simmons and Harry Harral. With a big run from Liam Weatherson who was just tackled yards from the try line giving the support player Brayden Harding the pace to score the try. The final try came from another outstanding run from Joseff McAlinden. Man of the match for this game was given to Joseff McAlinden for his vision of the game and spectacular tries.

COLWYN BAY 2     STOCKPORT 3

The second game was a lot closer with Stockport putting the Bay on their try line some how Joseff McAlinden stole the ball and ran the whole pitch to score a try. Stockport came straight back and made it 1-1. Matthew Wood scored his first try and what a try it was, he started from half way and went threw every defender to score his try, well done. Michael Caldwell played a good part in both of these matches and helped set up some good tries. Ben and Adam Walsh both stood out in this game. Man of the match goes to Harry Jones for his solid tackling and big heart.  WELL DONE TEAM


14th October '07

Colwyn Bay  4   Caernarfon 0

Colwyn Bay under 9’s are still unbeaten this season, they were away to Caernarfon they were led out by their captain Harry Jones. Caernarfon won the toss, who kicked the ball deep into the bays 22. The bay secured the ball and ran it straight in to Caernafon. Caernarfon had an excellent defensive line so the Bay had to work hard to gain ground with some good rucks, which led to Morgan Lumby’s opening try for the Bay. Caernarfon came straight back at the Bay but the Bays tackling was far to fierce for Caernarfon which held them back in there half. One of their players broke threw and was chased down and the ball was passed out to Joseff McAlinden who took full advantage and side stepped half of Caernarfon’s team to score the second try leaving the bay 2-0 at half time.

 The second half both teams were very well matched and the Bay were pinned on their try line but no matter how hard Caernarfon tried the bay were holding them back, some how the Bay stole the ball giving Jordan Simmons the opportunity to get his head down and drive through to score the third try. The Bay kept the pressure on and Liam Weatherson ripped the ball from one of Caernarfon’s players and before they had a chance to realise what was going on he had scored a fourth try for the Bay. None of these tries would have been possible without a BIG effort from the whole team. WELL DONE. Man of the Match goes to Jordan Simmons for his all-round performance.


30th September '07

Colwyn Bay under 9’s Tackle

Colwyn Bay 3     Mold 1

Colwyn Bay were at home to Mold. Mold had a well disciplined and drilled side. Every time the Bay was on the attack the bay was met by tackle after tackle and Mold put some big drives in which put  bay on the back foot. Bay held their nerve and by adding some pressure by recycling the ball they got a good break with Harry Harral scoring the first try, Mold came straight back and levelled the score 1-1at half time.

The second half the Bay had found a few gaps in Mold's defence and scored 2 good tries. The try scorers were Joseff McAlinden and Rhodri Davies, .

Adam Jakeman, Daniel and Ryan Foxall, Adam Walsh all dirtied their boots for the first time for the Bay.

The second game was a lot closer and the Bays captain Michael Caldwell had to lead the charge for the Bay, both of these teams were very well matched. The try scorer for the Bay was Rhodri Davies. Man of the Match for both matches goes to Harry Jones for his solid tackling skills

BIG EFFORT FOR THE WHOLE TEAM WELL DONE.

23rd September '07

Newtown 1   Colwyn Bay 4 

Under 9's Tackle

Colwyn Bay was away to Newtown. On arrival Newtown did not have an under 9 team so the Bay had to play Newtown's under 10’s. The Bay where led out by their captain Joseff McAlinden who won the toss which gave the Bay procession of the ball, The Bay took the game straight to Newtown and ran at them flat out with some good passing, the Bay put Newtown on the back foot with a spectacular run from Rhodri Davies which took the Bay 1 – 0 up. Newtown composed themselves and used their size to come straight down the centre of the pitch Liam Weatherson, Jordan Simmons and Morgan Lumby were trying to hold Newtown back in the driving mauls but Newtown piled on the power and equalled the score to 1-1.The Bay got straight back in there and found a weakness in Newtown's armour and this was to tackle hard, gain possession of the ball and pass it out wide to fast feet which give Rhodri his second try of the match.

The second half of the game the Bay came out with all guns blazing and with some text book tackling from Harry Jones, Gwilym McCann, Brayden Harding and Michael Caldwell who managed to control the game and this gave Rhodri Davies the opportunity to run the whole pitch for his hat trick. The fourth try came from a combination of good passing and brut force involving the whole team, which was finished off in style by Aled Bysouth. It was a big day for Matthew Wood who got his studs dirty for the first time away for the bay.

For big effort goes to Joseff McAlinden, Harry Jones, and Jordan Simmons, with out shadow of doubt man of the match goes to Rhodri Davies for his all round performance. WELL DONE TEAM
